Alton-6 month picture-1/8/2009

When Katie was born 15 years ago, we had her picture taken on the 24th of every month for the first year. And so a tradition was claimed with every Porter child-getting their picture taken on "their" date for the first year. Alton's date is the 8th.

Welcome to our first post!

We finally joined the rest of America (well at least our circle of friends) and signed up to start blogging. I'm not sure when we'll find the time to keep up with it but one day at a time right?
From Kristi:
Life is very hectic for us. It's a good hectic though. Between Katie's dramatics of high school, Emilie's dramatics of middle school, Clive the "super-sponge-preschooler", and Alton as the infant, my mom skills are sharpened every minute. I love it and hope I can continue to stay at home. It is truly the hardest yet most rewarding "career" I've ever done.
Speaking of careers, Rob's job is very shaky right now. This is most worried we've been in the past 10 years of his employment. He is trying to remain optimistic but is very concerned. As an IT Professional he is ready for new challenges but at the same time he wants to know his job is secure. His current employer, who shall remain nameless, is not providing either one of his needs. Regardless, he's ready for a change.
Yes, I am still in real estate. And yes, it is very, very slow. I am in my fifth year and it is the slowest I've ever been. Buyers want a steal and Sellers are scared. The media certainly doesn't help portray a pretty picture. I've met some pretty AWESOME people serving others as a Realtor. I'm very thankful for those referrals!
I switched brokerage companies a couple of months ago. It was a very hard decision to change. I really liked the people at my other company and miss them so much-especially the staff. They really know their real estate! With so much knowledge oozing from their experiences, someone always knew the answer to a dramatic real estate dilemma!
I am looking forward to this year-both professionally and personally.
